Our client, a manufacturing leader is looking for a Financial Controller to join our team their team in Mississauga. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial reporting, payroll management, tax compliance, and finance-related processes. Key Responsibilities:
1. Payroll Management:
- Supervise the full payroll cycle, ensuring accurate and timely salary payments.
- Process payroll bi-weekly and generate Records of Employment (ROEs) as required.
- Maintain payroll records, manage source deductions, payroll taxes, and ensure compliance with employment standards and tax laws.
- Work closely with HR to address payroll issues and optimize payroll workflows.
2. Finance Process Management:
- Develop, implement, and oversee internal financial controls to protect company assets and enhance operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate finance department processes.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with the CFO and senior management to set financial goals.
3. Financial Management:
- Perform regular bank account reconciliations.
- Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts and report findings to senior management.
- Manage bi-weekly payment runs for outstanding vendor invoices.
- Oversee the integration of accounts receivable systems (Shopify, Cin7) with QuickBooks Online.
- Regularly process accounts receivable deposits and conduct reconciliations.
- Execute month-end closing procedures consistently.
4. Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports.
- Ensure financial statements are accurate, timely, and comply with accounting standards and regulations.
- Provide management with detailed financial insights and strategic recommendations based on analysis.
5. Tax Filings and Compliance:
- Manage tax filings, including GST, US taxes, duties, and other government tax submissions.
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal tax regulations.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors to maintain proper documentation and adherence to tax laws.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- CPA designation (or candidates actively pursuing CPA) is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within the luxury retail or jewelry sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of systems such as CIN7, LOOP, and Shopify.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
