Head mechanic

Chief Mechanic

The Chief Mechanic ensures vehicle maintenance is performed quickly, according to estimates, and with low costs while maintaining safety and operational efficiency. This role includes ensuring accurate vehicle diagnostics to address issues at their source.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize weekly and daily maintenance and repairs for units, coordinating vehicle availability with operations;
  • Respond to calls and requests from drivers, assess and plan necessary actions to resolve issues;
  • Assign tasks to mechanics and apprentices, ensuring efficiency and quality in interventions;
  • Perform mechanical tasks, including preventive maintenance of trucks and tankers;
  • Supervise the heavy vehicle mechanics team and apprentices, providing technical support;
  • Ensure mechanics perform interventions within deadlines and safely;
  • Evaluate the quality and efficiency of mechanics’ work, ensuring cost-effectiveness;
  • Identify causes of breakdowns using diagnostic equipment and ensure the proper functioning of repaired equipment.

Profile

  • Degree in heavy vehicle mechanics, diesel, diagnostics;
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in heavy vehicle mechanics;
  • Knowledge of tanker mechanics (an asset);
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English and French);
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Strong problem-solving skills;
  • Autonomy, organizational skills, and team spirit;
  • Experience in team management.

Contract Information

Full-time permanent position

  • Day shift from 4:00 am to 12:30 pm;
