Our client is a prominent player in the food industry, seeking a skilled Maintenance Manager to enhance their operations.

Position Summary: As the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities across the facilities, including the plants, grounds, and production equipment. You will strategize and implement preventative maintenance plans, coordinate corrective actions, and prioritize repair tasks. Additionally, you’ll manage the plant’s capital expenditures, including budget creation, capital request submissions, and project execution. Leadership skills with a focus on teamwork and a flexible, accountable approach will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop, and mentor the maintenance team on a daily basis.
  • Cultivate a motivated team of technical professionals through effective recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Develop the capital budget and oversee the management of capital expenditure requests.
  • Implement and sustain a maintenance program for all production machinery, utilities, and facilities.
  • Manage and monitor the maintenance budget effectively.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and cost-efficiency within production.
  • Develop and enforce safety improvement strategies and processes.
  • Collaborate with production management to design training programs for staff on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Support your team in troubleshooting and repairs across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and production line equipment, from raw materials to finished products.
  • Create and execute a robust preventative maintenance strategy to minimize downtime and equipment failures.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of capital projects.
  • Ensure compliance with SQF, WSIB, and GMP standards and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with other department managers and participate in production and food safety meetings.
  • Maintain productive relationships with contractors and service providers.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures related to GMP, Quality, Food Safety, and Health & Safety.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of managerial experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Relevant operating licenses or certifications.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and capacity to meet tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with staff and management.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including potential overtime and shifts as necessary.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, HACCP, CFIA, SQF/GFSI standards, with knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and BRC certification being advantageous.
  • Proactive learner with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.

 

 Compensation 

  • Base:120K-130K (based on assessment)
  • Bonus:20% of annual base
  • Vacation:3 weeks
  • Personal:4 days
  • RRSP:up to 3%
