Structural engineer

Our client a Laval-based consulting engineering firm is  looking for a building structural engineer with consulting engineering experience  

You will be responsible for actively supervising the design of residential, commercial and institutional projects in both the public (schools, hospitals, office buildings, municipal buildings, swimming pools and park cottages) and private sectors, as well as asset management (renovations, expansions), etc.

Your responsibilities: 

  • Design and study various structures in steel, concrete or wood.
  • Supervise the production of plans, then proceed to their signature and sealing.
  • Edit calculation notes, technical documents and plans.
  • Develop specifications and define appropriate construction methods.
  • Evaluate the technical aspects of projects to ensure feasibility.
  • Edit detailed technical reports.
  • Conduct projects on time and on budget.
  • Conduct structural surveys and inspections of buildings.
  • Maintain smooth communication with stakeholders (customers, architects, engineers, subcontractors) throughout projects.
  • Supervise structural work during the construction phase.
  • Supervise the application of quality control processes.
  • Provide support to colleagues in the various phases of projects.
  • Profile
    • Must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (building structure option);
    • Must be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;
    • Must have held a license to practice as a FULL-RIGHT engineer with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) for a minimum of 5 years;
    • Must have an excellent knowledge of the standards and codes applicable in Quebec;
    • Have the ability to represent the company well to its clientele;
    • Ability to follow several projects simultaneously and work in a team;
    • Knowledge of AutoCad software, REVIT an asset;
    • Have excellent spoken and written French, English an asset;
    • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
