Our client, a leading player in the food industry, is seeking a skilled and proactive industrial mechanic to join their team in Milton, Ontario.
Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate high initiative and a sense of urgency, excelling in identifying, assessing, and repairing/replacing various components of plant operations. As an aggressive problem solver with a keen eye for detail, the candidate will proactively address issues during production to prevent stoppages. This role requires pride in workmanship, a continuous improvement mindset, and a strong commitment to production uptime.
Major Responsibilities:
- Safety Compliance: Understand, participate in, and support all safety programs and policies within the Milton manufacturing location.
- Machinery Maintenance: Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all production machinery, including high-speed packaging lines, conveyors, pumps, motors, kettles, and various other processing equipment.
- Continuous Monitoring: Continually identify, report, and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in initiatives to reduce equipment breakdowns and increase operating efficiency by investigating, recommending, and executing modifications.
- Equipment Adjustment: Exercise judgment in making necessary adjustments on equipment to maintain safe operations and quality control standards.
- Record Keeping: Keep accurate maintenance records and complete all work order paperwork in a timely manner.
- Collaboration with Engineering: Work closely with the Engineering department on machine modifications and the installation of new machinery and production systems.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high-quality product production while maintaining budgeted efficiencies. Share best practices with other maintenance team members.
- Food Safety and Quality: Understand, participate in, and support all food safety and quality programs at the Milton site, ensuring all products meet GMP and food safety requirements.
- Additional Duties: Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications – Must Haves:
- A college or trade school diploma/license for 433A Millwright.
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship and possession of a valid Millwright license or equivalent certification in a related mechanical trade.
