Maintenance Technician

Our client, a leading company in the weatherstripping and lite framing industry, is seeking a maintenance technician to join their team in Mississauga. This position involves working on day shifts and is essential for ensuring the maintenance and operation of injection molding machines.   Key Responsibilities: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plastic extrusion and injection molding machines to ensure they operate efficiently and meet production requirements. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions. Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on extrusion and molding equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as necessary. Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to understand machine systems and repair procedures. Collaborate with production staff to identify and address equipment issues that impact production schedules. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used. Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. Assist with machine installations, modifications, and upgrades as needed. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reliability. Respond to emergency repair requests promptly to minimize production downtime. Qualifications and Skills:  Proven experience as a maintenance technician with a focus on plastic extrusion and injection molding equipment. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Familiarity with plastic extrusion and injection molding processes, equipment, and components. Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and blueprints. Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment and parts as required. Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in equipment maintenance. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is a plus. Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintaining plastic extrusion and injection molding equipment.
